Raffles Hotel
The Raffles Hotel was named after Sir Raffles Stamford, the founder of the city of Singapore. Besides its plush accommodation, elegant restaurant, lush green lawn, exotic museum and Victorian styled theatre, it is well known for a unique bar where you can wine and dine in company of tamed monkeys. It is a famous venue where you’re still allowed to throw peanut shells on the floor. This may seem an insignificant habit but it is actually a remnant of former traditions in a town which is trying to become a model of cleanliness. To measure the importance of this paramount goal, just remember that chewing gum was once forbidden because it too often ended stuck on the seats of public transportation of the Asian state city...
