Salzburgo: Tierra natal de "Noche de Paz"

Cuando llegan las navidades, en todo el mundo escuchamos el famoso villancico Noche de Paz. En Salzburgo (Austria), no solo nació el hijo predilecto Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, sino también Joseph Mohr, el autor de Noche de Paz.

Josephus Franciscus Mohr wurde am 11. Dezember 1792 als Sohn der Strickerin Anna Schoiberin und des desertierten Musketiers Franz Mohr (Moor) in der Stadt Salzburg geboren.

"Es war am 24. Dezember des Jahres 1818, als der damalige Hilfspriester Herr Joseph Mohr bei der neu errichteten Pfarre St. Nicola in Oberndorf dem Organistendienst vertretenden Franz Gruber (damals zugleich auch Schullehrer in Arnsdorf) ein Gedicht überreichte, mit dem Ansuchen eine hierauf passende Melodie für 2 Solostimmen samt Chor und für eine Gitarre-Begleitung schreiben zu wollen." Die Entstehung von "Stille Nacht!" fällt in eine sehr schwere Zeit. Die Napoleonischen Kriege waren zu Ende gegangen und Europa hatte auf dem Wiener Kongreß eine Neuordnung erfahren. Im Zuge dieser Ereignisse erfuhr das geistliche Fürstentum Salzburg, das seine Selbständigkeit verloren hatte, seine Säkularisierung. Ein Teil Salzburgs kam 1816 zu Bayern und der größere Teil zu Österreich. Der Uraufführungsort von "Stille Nacht!", Oberndorf b. Salzburg, wurde von seinem Stadtzentrum in Laufen getrennt (heute Bayern, Bundesrepublik Deutschland), da die Salzach zur Staatsgrenze wurde. Der Fluß bildete durch den Salztransport über Jahrhunderte die Grundlage für den Wohlstand in Laufen/Oberndorf. Schiffahrt, Schiffer, Schiffbauer und damit der ganze Ort gingen unsicheren Zeiten entgegen. In dieser Phase kam Mohr nach Oberndorf und blieb zwischen 1817 und 1819. Sein voriger Dienstort Mariapfarr (1816-1817) hatte unter dem Abzug der bayerischen Besatzungstruppen zu leiden gehabt. Gerade aus diesen Zeitumständen heraus bekommt der Text besondere Bedeutung. Diese drückt große Friedenssehnsucht aus.

Josephus Franciscus Mohr was born in the city of Salzburg on the 11th December 1792 as the son of the knitter, Anna Schoiberin and the deserter musketeer Franz Mohr (Moor).

"It was on the 24th December 1818 that the assistant pastor of the newly established parish of St. Nicola in Oberdorf, Herr Joseph Mohr, gave a story to Franz Gruber (also a school teacher in Arnsdorf at the time) , who was standing in for the organist , and asked him to compose a suitable melody for 2 soloists with the choir and a guitar accompaniment." The creation of "Silent Night" came in very difficult times. The Napoleonic Wars were over and Europe experienced new laws put down by the Vienna Congress. The ecclesiastical principality of Salzburg, which had lost its independence as a result of these, became secularized. A part of Salzburg came to Bavaria in 1816 and a larger part to Austria. Oberndorf, near Salzburg, where the premier performance of "Silent Night!" was held, was divided off from the centre of its town, Laufen (today in Bavaria, Germany) as the Salzach River was made the new border between the two countries. This river, through the transportation of salt, was responsible for the basic prosperity to be found in Laufen/Oberndorf. Thus boat travel, boatsmen, boat builders and indeed the whole town experienced uncertain times. Mohr came to Oberndorf at this time and stayed between 1817 and 1819. His former parish, Mariapfarr (1816-1817)suffered from the departure of the Bavarian occupation troops. The text had a special meaning in the circumstances of these times. It emphasised the dire yearning for peace.

"Era il 24 dicembre del 1818, quando l'allora aiuto prete Signor Josef Mohr presso la neo edificata parrocchia St. Nicola in Oberndorf lesse una poesia all'organista Franz Gruber (al tempo anche insegnante ad Arnsdorf), nel tentativo di scrivere con lui una melodia appropriata per due voci soliste con coro e un accompagnamento di chitarra." La composizione di "Stille Nacht!" cade in un periodo molto difficile.Le guerre napoleoniche erano terminate e l' Europa dopo il Congresso di Vienna conobbe un nuovo ordine. In seguito a questi eventi, il principato religioso di Salisburgo, che aveva perduto la sua indipendenza, andò incontro alla secolarizzazione. Una parte di Salisburgo andò nel 1816 alla Baviera e la parte piu grande all'Austria. La località della prima esecuzione di "Stille Nacht!", Oberndorf b. Salzburg, fu divisa dal suo centro storico a Laufen (oggi Baviera, Repubblica Federale Tedesca), poichè il Salzach segnò il confine di Stato. Attraverso i secoli il fiume costituì grazie al trasporto del sale la base del benessere a Laufen/Oberndorf. Viaggi in nave, marinai e costruttori navali e con essi l'intera località andavano incontro a tempi incerti. In questa fase Mohr arrivò ad Oberndorf e vi rimase fra il 1817 e il 1819. Il suo precedente luogo di servizio, Mariapfarr (1816-1817), aveva avuto di che patire sotto la minaccia delle truppe di occupazione bavaresi. Proprio per queste condizioni del tempo il testo assume un significato particolare. Esprime cioè un grande desiderio di pace.
